Terms & Conditions
Our booking policies, cancellation terms, gift voucher rules, and studio safety guidelines.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
Please note: all accepted changes to workshop or class bookings may incur an administration fee.
Weekly Classes
Your booking fee secures your place, payable via our website or by bank transfer. We cannot reserve places without payment. Your booking is only confirmed once a 50% deposit or payment in full has been received.
If we cancel or alter the time or location of a class, you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another available class.
One-Day Workshops
Full payment is required to secure your place. We cannot reserve places without payment.
Martin will always try to move you to another date if you can no longer attend (subject to availability). If a transfer isn’t possible, the following refunds apply:
- Cancelled more than 4 weeks before: 90% refund
- Cancelled 1–4 weeks before: 50% refund
- Cancelled 7 days or less before: no refund
All cancellations incur a 10% administration fee. To keep prices fair for everyone, this policy applies without exception.
If we cancel a workshop for any reason, you will be entitled to a full refund.
Group & Bespoke Bookings
A 50% deposit is required to confirm a group booking, with the remaining balance due one month before the workshop date. Group bookings are subject to a minimum number of participants, agreed at the time of booking.
Individual places within a group booking will not be refunded — your total booking cost is based on the original agreed number of participants.
If you cancel more than one month before the workshop, a 50% refund will be offered. Cancellations made less than one month before the workshop date are non-refundable. If we cancel or alter the content, time, or location of a workshop, you will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to rearrange.
All refunds and booking changes are at the discretion of Martin McAssey Glass.
Gift Voucher Policy
Gift vouchers may be purchased through our website or by contacting us directly. Only vouchers issued by Martin McAssey Glass are covered under these terms.
- Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The booking must be placed within this 12-month period but may be made for a workshop or class scheduled beyond that date.
- Gift vouchers are redeemable against any workshop or class available on our website.
- Vouchers are only valid for the value purchased. If redeemed against a higher-value booking, the balance must be paid at the time of booking.
- Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and are non-refundable.

Tools, Equipment & Safety
Working with stained glass involves specialist tools, materials, and processes that require care and attention. The safety of our students is our highest priority.
Before participating in any workshop or class, all students are required to read and sign a safety agreement. Tool use is only permitted following a full induction led by an experienced tutor. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.

You will have access to a range of stained glass tools and equipment during your session, including:
- Glass cutters, running pliers, and breaking pliers
- Glass grinder
- Lead came and lead came knives/cutters
- Soldering iron and solder
- Light table
- Fid, horseshoe nails, and glazing tools
Chemical Hazards
The following materials and substances are used during stained glass work:
- Lead came — lead dust may be produced during cutting; full precautions are in place
- Soldering flux (oleic acid or zinc chloride based) — used to prepare surfaces for soldering
- Chemical patina/darkener (e.g. copper sulphate solution) — used to finish and age solder lines

We follow all current health and safety guidelines for working with lead and flux fumes. Thorough handwashing is required before eating, drinking, or leaving the studio.
